Pre-K, Assistant Teacher
Amelia was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, but grew up in Australia. She completed a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at the University of Melbourne's Victorian College of the Arts, and continued her studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she was the recipient of merit scholarships.
In 2008 Amelia relocated to New York to commence a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music. She was awarded the Dean's List and additionally received a Professional Studies Certificate in 2011. It was around about this time that Amelia started to develop an interest in
educational philosophy – specifically, in the notion of an educator's responsibility towards their students – an interest which ultimately led to the pursuit of a Master of Education degree at Columbia University's Teachers College. She graduated from the music education program in 2016, earning her New York State (NYSED) initial teaching certificate in Music (K-12) the following year.
In recent months, Amelia has had the opportunity to work closely with pre-K through elementary school age students presenting a broad range of academic as well as socio emotional/adaptive needs. She is particularly eager to learn about the manifold approaches and progressive philosophies
incorporated by arts-enriched educative settings. Amelia aims to provide individualized support for each and every student she meets, so that they can grow holistically and thrive in their potentialities.
