Director of Dance & Movement
Yun-Tzu was born in Taiwan and began dancing at the age of seven. She attended Taipei University of the Arts, SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Dance, where she received her Bachelors of Fine Art Degree, and New York University Steinhardt and received her Master’s of Arts in Dance Education in American Ballet Theatre (ABT) Ballet Pedagogy and Pre-K-12 tracks. In addition, Yun-Tzu has a dance educator certificate credited by The Pulse on Tour and Broadway Dance Center and a licensed Zumba/Zumba kids instructor. She continues her professional development by taking classes in NYC and is a member of the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO).
While at SUNY, she studied ballet with Rosanna Seravalli, Ted Kivitt, Bettijane Sills and Richard Cook. She not only has extensive training in ballet, but has studied under masters in modern dance such as Larry Clark, Neil Greenberg, Stephanie Tooman, Megan Williams and Kevin Wynn. She has danced many roles in the Nutcracker and performed with the St. Luke’s Orchestra in NYC.
Yun-Tzu joined Keshet Dance Company in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2011, and worked with different artists such as Shira Greenburg, Vladimir Conde Reche, Tamir Ginz, Kelsey Paschich, Eric Newton and many more. She toured throughout the United States with the dance company while choreographing many dances for the students.
During her time at NYU, Yun-Tzu travelled to Uganda with the Dance Education program to learn, teach and perform traditional Ugandan Dances and drumming. She collaborated with professional dancers and educators in Uganda and taught creative movement to children from local orphanages and other community-based organizations. Yun-Tzu has had many performance opportunities with NYU, such as performing at the Distinguish Faculty Concerts, 2017 Steinhardt graduation, NY EdTech Week, Masters’ Dance Concerts, New York University Africa House and CTED Gala Diner Celebration, 92Y & DEL Dance Educators Collective Annual Concert, Donation Dance NYC Holiday Variety Show, the National Theater in Uganda, Dance in Film projects and many more. In addition to performing, Yun-Tzu is currently a faculty member at The Harlem School of the Arts and Donation Dance NYC. She has taught at the NYU Steinhardt’s Summer Dance Intensive, American Ballet Theatre Bridge Class Summer Intensive and in the New York City public schools.
Yun-Tzu is very excited to join the team at the MUSE Academy. Her goal is to bring dance to every child and establish an integrated curriculum to build a well-rounded program. This program is designed to inspire children to appreciate the arts and utilize it in their daily lives.
